<aside> 🧟 Hello, Comp Form!

Next Monday will be our final Comp Form class. As sad as that may be, lets celebrate!

The Zoom theme for the last day will be "Birthday Party". Please come to class with an appropriate Zoom background. If you have a party hat, you should wear it.

We are going to pack in the best bits for both the Microgames class, and the Portmortem Party.

For that to work you'll need to do some prep work.

Please do all of the following before class Monday. All in this will take a few hours, and many of you will be busy with finals. You can cut a sketch or two if you need time for this prepwork.

Prep for the Postmortem Take some time to look back at all of the sketches from this semester. Note down your very favorites.

You have REQUIRED play! Have fun.

— Play some Wario Ware. You can play in your browser.

— Read this page about the game You Have to Burn the Rope. Play the game if you can, at least watch the walkthrough.

— Play some Spelunky! The original can be played in the browser!

— Here is a Pico-8 Wario-ware-like! Play in the browser!

— How much game can fit in two tweets? Find out here. Play at least 4 games!

— How much game can fit in 13k of JS? Find out here. Play at least 4 games!

You have REQUIRED homework!

Time will be tight, so come prepared. Please read and study this week's chapter—Microgames—BEFORE we meet on Wednesday.

— Read almost the whole chapter http://compform.net/microgames/. Skip the blacked-out bit—no spoilers!—we'll cover that in class.

— Pick one of the tweettweetjam or js13k games (links above) to show in class. Pick a deep cut that you think other people might not have seen. Have one or two things to say about it.

OPTIONAL Complete "in-class" challenges before you come in. We won't have time to do any coding with p5.play in class, so if you want to get your hands dirty, do the challenges.

Best,

Justin
